Welcome to another day the Lord has made that we should rejoice and be glad in. (Psalms 118:24)

Today let’s honor the most hallowed God given name.
Today’s scripture, Philippians 2:9-11 (ERV) says…
[9] So God raised him up to the most important place and gave him the name that is greater than any other name. [10] God did this so that every person will bow down to honor the name of Jesus. Everyone in heaven, on earth, and under the earth will bow. [11] They will all confess, “Jesus Christ is Lord,” and this will bring glory to God the Father.
Consider…
Recall, yesterday we shared Oxford Languages definition of hallowed included…
- greatly revered and honored.
That’s exactly what God declares about the name of Jesus in today’s scripture. As I thought about that truth, it occurred to me that Jesus’ name wasn’t randomly chosen by God to be hallowed above every name.
Matthew 1:20-23 (ERV) shares…
[20] But after Joseph thought about this, an angel from the Lord came to him in a dream. The angel said, “Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to accept Mary to be your wife. The baby inside her is from the Holy Spirit. [21] She will give birth to a son. You will name him Jesus. Give him that name because he will save his people from their sins.” [22] All this happened to make clear the full meaning of what the Lord said through the prophet: [23] “The virgin will be pregnant and will give birth to a son. They will name him Immanuel.” (Immanuel means “God with us.”)
Notice, God named His only begotten Son Jesus before He was born. Moreover, God explained the reason He was given that name was because He would save His people from their sins.
After reading that, a couple of thoughts come to mind…
- In Hebrew, Jesus means “the LORD is salvation” or “to deliver; to rescue”
Applying the knowledge we have about LORD in all caps, we could say YHWH is salvation! I feel confident saying that because Colossians 1:15-17 (NLT) affirms…
[15] Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, [16] for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see, such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. [17] He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.
This leads me to declare the name of Jesus is hallowed by God, because He’s YHWH is salvation!
Doubling down, the Holy Spirit reminded me, John 8:58 (NLT) says…
[58] Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I AM!”
The same I AM that revealed Himself to Moses, also reveals Himself to us in the name of Jesus!
- The second thought is when God the Father named His Son, He said that Jesus would save HIS PEOPLE!
Ephesians 2:13 (NLV) explains…
But now you belong to Christ Jesus. At one time you were far away from God. Now you have been brought close to Him. Christ did this for you when He gave His blood on the cross.
Indeed we’re saved by Jesus, because YHWH is salvation!
Accordingly, it’s important that we heed Jesus’ warning in Matthew 7:21-23 (NLT)…
[21] “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. [22] On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ [23] But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’
The Holy Spirit emphasized to me, Jesus is saying giving Him the title Lord isn’t enough, He must be LORD of our lives to be saved!
And when Jesus is LORD of your life, He promises in John 14:12-14 (NLT)…
[12] “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. [13] You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. [14] Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!
Verse thirteen is one people like to quote without context, but Jesus is saying following in His footsteps, and carrying on His physical ministry, we can ask for anything in HIS name and He will do it. In other words, we are in Jesus name for what we need to live and love like Him! And Jesus says, when you ask for that, the answer is already YES!
We’re told to end our prayers with, “in the name of Jesus”, and we are, but it’s for God’s will to be done in, and through, us in the power and authority of His Son.
Perhaps a good prayer is the Apostle Paul’s exhortation before God exalted Jesus’ name in today’s scripture. Philippians 2:5 (KJV) says…
[5] Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Let’s pray to be more like Jesus in His name! 🙏🏾
Indeed let’s desire to share the Apostle Paul’s testimony in Galatians 2:20 (NLT)…
[20] My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Clearly Jesus is the most hallowed name by God, therefore the same Exodus 20:7 (NLT)
admonition applies to YHWH is salvation…
[7] “You must not misuse the name of the LORD your God. The LORD will not let you go unpunished if you misuse his name.
Let’s make sure we’re properly revering and using the name of Jesus, for God’s will and glory!
Today’s song is…
I Speak Jesus
