Welcome to another day the Lord has made that we should rejoice and be glad in. (Psalms 118:24)

Another example of an activation clause that the Holy Spirit highlighted comes from…
Today’s scripture, Isaiah 40:29-31 (NLT) says…
[29] He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. [30] Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. [31] But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Consider…
We live in a microwave, Fast Food society. Plus between the internet and cellular phone, everything people want to know is instantly at their finger tips. News Papers have been replaced with Podcasts and Tweets.
These are just a few reasons why waiting is one of the most challenging things for people to do. Yet, the faster things move, the more people seem to be running through life on a hamster wheel.
While instant access and immediate responses can be blessings at times, they also create an unhealthy reliance on what we can get rather than what God will provide.
Rather than praying as Jesus taught in Matthew 6:11 (NIV)…Give us today our daily bread…we place an order with Uber Eats to have bread delivered to us.
The continuous technology advances, increase our self-reliance and decrease our God-dependence. For example, we will consult ChatGPT or AI before we ask God for answers to life’s questions.
This reminds me of Genesis 11:4-9 (NIV), which recounts…
[4] Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.” [5] But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. [6] The LORD said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. [7] Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.” [8] So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. [9] That is why it was called Babel—because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.
Funny thing is now there’s a language teaching APP called…BABBEL.
Yet, isn’t interesting that Gods response for people’s question for independence was to thwart their efforts and scatter them in confusion.
Here’s the shocker, I believe God has an issue with independence because He views the ‘in’ as the ‘not’ prefix used for most words like…
- indecisive
- inconvenient
- inconceivable
- inconclusive, etc…
… accordingly, us being independent to God, looks like us being not dependent on Him. Therein lies the crux of the issue, God wants us to depend on Him alone.
But I believe that although God scattered and confused people, it didn’t stop them from being independent. Thus, I believe God decided to make their efforts tiresome and full of struggle so that they would wear themselves out.
As I thought about that, the Holy Spirit showed me an acronym for sin is…
- Seeking
- Independent
- Navigation
In other words finding, and doing things, your own way.
This is underscored in Proverbs 14:12 (KJV), which advises…
[12] There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, But the end thereof are the ways of death.
And the other Holy Spirit reminded me that it’s based on our ego, which is…
- Edging
- God
- Out
That’s what we saw when read…
they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves
Yet God wants us to depend on Him. That’s why Psalm 37:23-24 (KJV) declares…
[23] The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: And he delighteth in his way. [24] Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: For the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
God is telling us stop trying to make good things happen on our own. Instead lean on Psalms 27:13-14 (NLT), which testifies…
[13] Yet I am confident I will see the LORD’S goodness while I am here in the land of the living. [14] Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
More importantly, the Holy Spirit is saying stop building self-reliant towers to God, and wait for Jesus to return and take us to the Father.
Philippians 3:20-21 (NLT) explains…
[20] But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. [21] He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.
As I wrote this, the Holy Spirit told me that there is no ‘breaking and entering’ into God’s Kingdom, only…
- waiting on
- soaring with
- running in
- walking by
…God’s strength!
So today, slow down in this fast paced, want it now world, wearing yourself out trying to “make it do what it do”, and instead activate God’s new strength by waiting on Him and following His direction.
Trust me, life is easier when you trust and depend on the Lord lead you through! That’s what waiting is.
Today’s song is…
They That Wait
Blessings 4HG (1 Corinthians 10:31)
