Welcome to another day the Lord has made that we should rejoice and be glad in. (Psalms 118:24)

The Holy Spirit showed me everything begins with hearing based faith.
Today’s scripture, Hebrews 11:3 NLT
[3] By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.
Consider…
When the Holy Spirit guided me to today’s verse, I heard the signature line of a George Michael song, which is…
‘Cause I gotta’ have faith
The Bible begins in Genesis 1:1-5 (NLT) with…
[1] In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. [2] The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. [3] Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. [4] And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. [5] God called the light “day” and the darkness “night.” And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day.
There’s a lot that could be unpacked here, but in context of today’s scripture why do we believe God created everything? How can we trust Moses, who was writing what he was told rather than what he saw?
The Holy Spirit answered the question for me by asking why do I believe there’s light and dark or day and night?
You see the reality is many things we believe are based on what we’ve been told, especially when it explains what we see. Said another way, what we hear informs what we believe.
This leads me to Romans 10:13-15 (NLT) which explains…
[13] For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” [14] But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? [15] And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”
Notice verse 14 underscores the fact that we have to hear to believe.
Paul reiterates that fact a couple verses later with Romans 10:17 (NLT), which declares…
[17] So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.
The Holy Spirit is telling me to take this opportunity to stress the importance of what we listen to, because it feeds our faith.
Jesus illustrated this point in John 10:26-27 (NLT) when He said…
[26] But you don’t believe me because you are not my sheep. [27] My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
Notice Jesus said that His sheep hear and follow Him. That means, we need to keep are ears, and hearts, tuned into the Jesus’ frequency in order to follow Him.
As I looked for that verse, the Holy Spirit whispered Isaiah 30:21 (NLT) to me. The prophet said…
[21] Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.
This reminds me of God speaking Abraham in Genesis 12:1-2 (NLT). Scripture says…
[1] The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. [2] I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others.
And two verses later we read, in Genesis 12:4 (NLT)…
[4] So Abram departed as the Lord had instructed, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.
Isn’t interesting that God TOLD Abraham, I will show you, and Abraham by faith went to see. Even more interesting, God didn’t him the destination, He just said go where I lead you.
Here’s the key that the Holy Spirit is emphasizing, we have to believe, and follow, what God says to us before we can see what He has for us.
As that fact settled in my spirit, the Holy Spirit cited 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NLT), which declares…
[7] For we live by believing and not by seeing.
Today, the Holy Spirit has one message about faith, it begins with hearing. That’s why it is imperative that we only listen to God’s voice.
Feed you faith with God’s Word!
Today’s song is…
If God Said It
