The God Of Peace, In The Person Of The Holy Spirit (2025-05-22)

Welcome to another day the Lord has made that we should rejoice and be glad in. (Psalms 118:24)

The Holy Spirit showed me how He too is the God of Peace.

Today’s scripture, Hebrews 13:20-21 (NLT) prays…
[20] Now may the God of peace— who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood— [21] may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.

Consider…
We’ve spent the last couple of days focusing on Jesus being the God of peace. Within our focus we identified that God the Father and Jesus the Son operate are one as the God of peace. Today the Holy Spirit showed me that He too operates in perfect harmony with the Father and Son as the God of Peace. In fact He’s the person of the Godhead that actively produces peace in our lives.

Romans 8:6 (NLT) explains…
[6] So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

And Galatians 5:22 (NLT) explicitly states…
[22] But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, PEACE…

Recall, the Holy Spirit taught us a couple of days ago that when Jesus says in John 10:30 (NLT)…“The Father and I are one.”, He’s saying they both operate as one, or the same God.

This harmonious collaboration of the Godhead reminds me of Genesis 1:26a-27 (NLT)…
[26] Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image…” [27] So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

And Luke 3:21-22 (NLT), which chronicles Jesus’ baptism…
[21] One day when the crowds were being baptized, Jesus himself was baptized. As he was praying, the heavens opened, [22] and the Holy Spirit, in bodily form, descended on him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, “You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy.”

Notice the Holy Spirit descended from the heavens physically like a dove. Landing on Jesus like a dove was a mirror image of the dove that landed on Noah’s Ark as a sign that the flood, and God’s judgement had ended and His peace was once again present Genesis 8:6-12. The Holy Spirit confirmed, and confirms, the God of peace is in our midst.

In addition to the mirror imagery of the peace confirming dove, the Holy Spirit showed me witness bearing scripture that drew a bright-line to the Holy Spirit also being the God of peace.

Today’s scripture begins…
Now may the God of peace— who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus

Well, Romans 8:11 (NLT) testifies…
[11] The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

Applying the transitive property from Geometry…

  • The God of Peace raised Jesus from the dead – Hebrews 13:20
  • The Spirit of God raised Jesus from the dead – Romans 8:11
  • Therefore, the God of Peace is the Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead.

This is important because the Holy Spirit lives in us, which means we have the God of Peace living in us. Therefore we don’t need to look for the peace of God, because the God of Peace is already in us.

But remember, Romans 8:6 also says we must let the we must let the Holy Spirit control our minds, to experience God’s peace.

This means, that although the God of Peace lives in us, His peace requires our permission to experience it. Said another way, God’s peace is always available but we can only attain it when let the God of Peace have complete control of our lives.

Another thought about the Holy Spirit being the God of Peace, comes from Jesus in John 20:21-22 (NLT), which reads…
[21] Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” [22] Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”

Notice, after Jesus said peace be with you, He breathed on the disciples, just like the Triune God in Genesis 2:7, and said “Receive the Holy Spirit.”

Today, I encourage you to embrace the God of Peace living in you.

Also recognize, because the Holy Spirit lives in you, whereever you are, the God of Peace is there too.

Thus, everywhere you go you can sing along with the hymn…

There’s a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place,
And I know that it’s the Spirit of the Lord;
There are sweet expressions on each face,
And I know they feel the presence of the Lord.

Sweet Holy Spirit, Sweet heavenly Dove,
Stay right here with us, filling us with Your love.
And for these blessings we lift our hearts in praise;
Without a doubt we’ll know that we have been revived,
When we shall leave this place.

I also encourage you to let the God of Peace, in the person of the Holy Spirit, lead you in everyway Galatians 5:25.

Finally, the Holy Spirit is telling me to let the Apostle Paul close today’s post with 2 Corinthians 13:11, 14 (NLT)…
[11] Dear brothers and sisters, I close my letter with these last words: Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you.
[14] May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Paraphrasing, may the Triune God of Peace be known in the…

  • Unfathomable Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
  • Unfailing Love of God, our Heavenly Father
  • Unforgettable Fellowship of the Holy Spirit, that lives in us

…in Jesus name, Amen.

Today’s song is…
Spirit Of The Living God

Blessings 4HG (1 Corinthians 10:31)
