Welcome to another day the Lord has made that we should rejoice and be glad in. (Psalms 118:24)

The Holy Spirit is inspiring me to share thoughts about the God of peace.
Today’s scripture, 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (NLT) prays…
[23] Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. [24] God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.
Consider…
It’s been awhile since my last post. The reason for my silence is best explained by the hymn refrain…
Blessed quietness, holy quietness
what assurance in my soul!
On the stormy sea speaking peace to me
how the billows cease to roll!
The Holy Spirit quieted me, so that I could hear Him speak to me.
This experience reminds me of 1 Samuel 3:7-10 (NLT), where Samuel first recognized God. Scripture says…
[7] Samuel did not yet know the Lord because he had never had a message from the Lord before. [8] So the Lord called a third time, and once more Samuel got up and went to Eli. “Here I am. Did you call me?” Then Eli realized it was the Lord who was calling the boy. [9] So he said to Samuel, “Go and lie down again, and if someone calls again, say, ‘Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went back to bed. [10] And the Lord came and called as before, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel replied, “Speak, your servant is listening.”
The Holy Spirit has spent this extended quiet time letting me know the importance of recognizing and listening to God’s voice.
In fact Jesus emphasizes in John 10:27 (NLT)…
[27] My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
So, I have simply spent time listening to God.
One refrain that He has been repeating is that Jesus is the God of peace. The Holy Spirit referred me to Isaiah 9:6-7 (NLT) which testifies…
[6] For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. [7] His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen! Lord
Notice the descriptions of Jesus are…
- Wonderful Counselor, which is why Jesus said in Matthew 11:29 (NLT)… Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
- Mighty God, which is why in John 8:58 (NLT)…Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I AM!”
- Everlasting Father, which is why in John 14:9 (NLT)…Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you?
- Prince of Peace, which is why Jesus said in John 16:33 (NLT)…I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
As you can see, Jesus Himself confirmed, what the Prophet Isaiah prophesied about who He is.
Thus, when we read references to the God of peace, we should remember that Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
A twist just occurred to me, a prince is the son of a king. Yet, the prophet Isaiah said Jesus is the “Everlasting Father”, and the “Prince of Peace”! How can Jesus be both Father and Son?
The answer is, because Jesus says so in John 10:30 (NLT)…The Father and I are one.”
The importance of Jesus’ statement is that it reflects a key element of peace, which is God operates in perfect unity.
In fact the Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 14:33a (NLT)…For God is not a God of disorder but of peace…
You see one definition of peace could be, bringing order to disorder.
That’s what Christ did for us!
Colossians 1:19-22 (NLT) explains…
[19] For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, [20] and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. [21] This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. [22] Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.
The Holy Spirit is telling me to pause and let Jesus being the God of peace marinate in your Spirit.
Today, in the midst of all the turmoil, quiet your heart and mind and listen to the voice of Jesus, the God of peace, and follow Him.
By the way, following Jesus means you’re hanging out with the God of peace.
In this world of chaos, cling tightly to the God of peace.
Today’s song is…
Peace
Blessings 4HG (1 Corinthians 10:31)
