Welcome to another day the Lord has made that we should rejoice and be glad in. (Psalms 118:24)

Today let’s conclude our examination of God knowing us by highlighting His Omniscience.
In today’s scripture, John 4:29 (KJV), the Samaritan woman at the well told others…
[29] Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
Consider…
Hopefully the week of posts, highlighting some of the ways God let’s us know that we are known by Him, has provided encouragement. Encouragement that He understands and cares about us as both a loving Father and Friend.
When searching for a conclusion to the week, the Holy Spirit gave me one word, Omniscient! He told me to take a moment to appreciate the blessing of knowing an all knowing Lord and Savior!
For any of us who have ever been in a relationship, we know that we spent time getting to know one another. We also know that because both of us were ever changing, we never fully knew each other. As a matter of fact if we’re honest most of us don’t truly know ourselves. Jeremiah 17:9 (KJV) attests…
[9] The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
But thanks be to God the Prophet Jeremiah continues with Jeremiah 17:10 (KJV) with God’s testimony…
[10] I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
For better or worse, the LORD knows our heart, thus He truly knows us.
Therefore, rather than try to fool God with religious acts, we should say like the Psalmist in Psalm 139:23-24 (KJV)…
[23] Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts: [24] And see if there be any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.
Many of us are familiar with the woman at the well, but what we miss sometimes is the fact Jesus knew her. He wasn’t focused on what she had done outwardly, rather He was focused on what she thirsted for inwardly, which was to be loved and accepted. That’s what Jesus gave her that day, unconditional love and full acceptance.
The Samaritan woman’s story makes me think of what the LORD told the priest Samuel in his search for the new King of Israel in 1 Samuel 16:7 (KJV)…
[7] But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
We need to hear and embrace the grace of God that says I know what you’ve done and where you’re lacking, but I also know who you truly are and desire to be.
I think the Psalmist of Psalm 139:1-3 (KJV) understood being fully known by God and thus confessed…
[1] O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. [2] Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. [3] Thou compassest my path and my lying down, And art acquainted with all my ways.
No matter how you slice it, God knows you! In fact Jesus said in Luke 12:7 (KJV)…
[7] But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Not only are we known by God, we’re valued by Him!
Speaking of valued by God, in His omniscience He knew that we would be His children before the world was made. Ephesians 1:4-6 (NLT) explains…
[4] Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. [5] God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. [6] So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son.
I hear many people say we’re saved because of who God is, and that is true. Yet I humbly submit we’re also saved because God knew we would choose to make Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Sometimes we confuse free will with God being surprised by our choices and actions. However, in this life we’re merely discovering what God already knows. So yes we decide what to believe, say and do, but God already knows everything in advance.
Therefore, I encourage you to remember the next time your struggling that like Psalm 73:26 (KJV) confesses…
[26] My flesh and my heart faileth: But God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
You see God strengthens us to become whom He knows we want to be, spitting images of His Son! That’s why He gave us the Holy Spirit.
I believe it’s because our all knowing Father knows everything about us that He had the Apostle Paul confess in Romans 7:19 (KJV)…
[19] For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
And then just a few books later write in Galatians 5:16-17 (NLT)…
[16] So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. [17] The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
The Holy Spirit is emphasizing that our omniscient God knows us, and that despite our failings, it is our sincere desire to please Him. Therefore, because God knows us, He has provided an answer to every test in life, which is Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 4:15-16 (KJV) explains God’s answer this way…
[15] For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. [16] Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Jesus came to let us know that God knows us. And because He knows us Ephesians 2:3-5 (NLT) proclaims…
[3] All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else. [4] But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, [5] that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
Because our omniscient God knows us He extends His…
- Unfailing love
- Unending mercy
- and Unlimited grace
The Holy Spirit is telling me to close with the following lyrics of a hymn…
Just as I am, without one plea
But that Thy blood was shed for me
And that Thou bid’st me come to Thee
Oh, Lamb of God, I come, I come
Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt
Fighting and fears within without
Oh, Lamb of God, I come, I come
God says I already know you, just come to me as are and get to know Me.
God doesn’t want our perfection, He wants our connection!
Today’s song is…
In Your Grace
Blessings 4HG (1 Corinthians 10:31)
