Holy To The Lamb (2024-11-06)

Welcome to another day the Lord has made that we should rejoice and be glad in. (Psalms 118:24)

Today let’s give love to the Holy Lamb of God!

Today’s scripture, John 1:29 (NIV), says…
[29] The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Consider…
Meriam Webster provides another definition of Holy as being exalted or worthy of complete devotion as one perfect in goodness and righteousness.

This definition makes me think of Philippians 2:9-11 (NIV), which says…
[9] Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, [10] that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, [11] and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Applying the first part of Webster’s definition to this scripture says that God declares Jesus is Holy!

The second part of MW ‘s definition which says “one perfect in goodness and righteousness”, ran my mind to 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV), which says…
[21] God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Here we see God making Jesus, His Righteous Son, become sin so that we can become the righteousness of God.

1 Peter 1:18-19 (NLT) expounds on this transformational truth. It says…
[18] For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. [19] It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.

Look at that, the payment for our sin was blood of the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. This is reason enough for us to say Holy to the Lamb of God!

Revelation 5:4-12 (NLT) affirms my exhortation to say Holy to the Lamb of God. It explains…
[4] Then I began to weep bitterly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll and read it. [5] But one of the twenty-four elders said to me, “Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne, has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.” [6] Then I saw a Lamb that looked as if it had been slaughtered, but it was now standing between the throne and the four living beings and among the twenty-four elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which represent the sevenfold Spirit of God that is sent out into every part of the earth. [7] He stepped forward and took the scroll from the right hand of the one sitting on the throne. [8] And when he took the scroll, the four living beings and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp, and they held gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of God’s people. [9] And they sang a new song with these words: “You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it. For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. [10] And you have caused them to become a Kingdom of priests for our God. And they will reign on the earth.” [11] Then I looked again, and I heard the voices of thousands and millions of angels around the throne and of the living beings and the elders. [12] And they sang in a mighty chorus: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered— to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.”

Notice John said that the only one worthy to open the sacred scroll was the Lamb of God who was slain for our transgressions!

As I looked for more references to the Lamb of God, I came across Revelation 7:9-10 (NLT), where John testified…
[9] After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. [10] And they were shouting with a great roar, “Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb!”

Notice the Lamb is with God, and is considered the co-source of salvation.

I think I will stop here, because there’s so much to appreciate about the Holy Lamb of God. So for today, let’s just be intentional about telling the Lamb of God we recognize and acknowledge that He’s Holy!

Only a Holy Lamb could atone for a broken and unholy people to make them perfectly whole!

That warrants our adoration and appreciation, which is expressed by declaring ‘Holy to the Lamb of God’.

Today’s Song is…
Holy To The Lamb
