Welcome to another day the Lord has made that we should rejoice and be glad in. (Psalms 118:24)

Today, let’s recognize the fact that God will take all odds on doing what He decides.
Today’s scripture, Jeremiah 32:27 (NLT) says…
[27] “I am the Lord, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?
Consider…
Imagine having the swag of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Facing impossible odds, they refused to bow to anyone or anything other than God! Daniel 3:15-18 (NLT) shares…
[15] I will give you one more chance to bow down and worship the statue I have made when you hear the sound of the musical instruments. But if you refuse, you will be thrown immediately into the blazing furnace. And then what god will be able to rescue you from my power?” [16] Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. [17] If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. [18] But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”
What have you refused to do or compromise in deference to God? What have you been willing to suffer for Christ?
1 Peter 3:13-14 (NLT) encourages…
[13] Now, who will want to harm you if you are eager to do good? [14] But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats.
I believe the three Hebrew Boys focused more on God’s rewards than they feared King Nebuchadnezzar rage. To appreciate just how angry the King was, let’s read Daniel 3:19-23 (NLT)…
[19] Nebuchadnezzar was so furious with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego that his face became distorted with rage. He commanded that the furnace be heated seven times hotter than usual. [20] Then he ordered some of the strongest men of his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and throw them into the blazing furnace. [21] So they tied them up and threw them into the furnace, fully dressed in their pants, turbans, robes, and other garments. [22] And because the king, in his anger, had demanded such a hot fire in the furnace, the flames killed the soldiers as they threw the three men in. [23] So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, securely tied, fell into the roaring flames.
When you stand for the King of Kings, you may subject yourself to the overwhelming rage of your situation’s king. Situations like…
- Losing your job, because you refuse to bow to it’s demands in deference to God.
- Walking away from a cherished relationship, in deference to holding the hand of your prescious Lord.
- Forfeiting wealth and fame, in deference to glorifying Jesus’ name.
You see kings can be more than the monarchs or people in authority in our lives, they can be the costs we incur for investing all our trust in God.
But here’s what’s so awesome about Daniel’s friends story. You see, we learn that although God can do the easy, like put the fire out, He chooses to do the impossible, like standing in the fire with us.
Of course this presses play on my favorite song lyric ever…
Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine
He’s been my fourth man in the fire, time after time
God reminds us, that nothing is impossible for Him. He defies all odds, so our faith is 💯 safe with Him!
Another testimony of God’s off defying power is found in Matthew 28:6 (KJV) which proclaimed of Jesus…
[6] He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
We shout that every Sunday, especially Resurrection Sunday. But something just as shout worthy was written in Romans 8:11-12 (NLT). It says…
[11] The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. [12] Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do.
That means those impossible things that you swear you can’t do…
- Forgive
- Unconditionally Love
- Extend boundless Grace
- Be Holy
…you have the life resurrecting power dwelling in you to do it.
So stop begging God to move your mountain and start exercising the faith He told you to use and tell it to move. And here’s the kicker, even if it doesn’t move, He’s with you in the midst of it.
Never confuse what God may not do, according to your will, with what His ability to do all things. Therefore, always know He can, even if He doesn’t. Then pay attention when He does the impossible.
Today’s Song is…
