Welcome to another day the Lord has made that we should rejoice and be glad in. (Psalms 118:24)

Today let’s watch Jesus show up on time!
Today’s scripture, Romans 5:6 (NLT) says…
When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.
Consider…
Today’s post was inspired by John P Kee’s song, ‘Show Up’. The song’s chorus says…
Just ask the question and the answer shall come
Just exercise your faith and know He’s the One
If there is no sign
Keep this in mind
He’ll show up on time
While I thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the song, I struggled to find the scripture that best aligned with its message.
Perhaps I could have used Psalms 37:39-40 (NLT)…
The Lord rescues the godly; he is their fortress in times of trouble. The Lord helps them, rescuing them from the wicked. He saves them, and they find shelter in him.
That could work, because it affirms God keeps the godly in times of trouble.
Or I could have looked at James 1:3-5 (ERV)…
You know that when your faith is tested, you learn to be patient in suffering. If you let that patience work in you, the end result will be good. You will be mature and complete. You will be all that God wants you to be. Do any of you need wisdom? Ask God for it. He is generous and enjoys giving to everyone. So he will give you wisdom.
This could’ve made sense, emphasizing patience and getting wisdom from God.
But neither of these scriptures were the first that came to mind about God showing up on time. Instead, the first scripture that came to mind was today’s verse, which explains that Christ came at just the right time.
That’s when the message crystalized, which is we can depend on God to show up on time, because Jesus already showed up at just the right time.
But when did Jesus show up? When was the right time?
Well according to 1 Peter 1:20 (NLT)…
God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days he has been revealed for your sake.
And Ephesians 1:4 (NLT) reaffirms…
Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.
When was the right time? Before the beginning! 🤯
The linear construct of time messes with our minds and makes us evaluate God’s love and concern for us based on the promptness of His responses to our needs.
I suspect when our dreams have died and faith has faded, we respond like Lazarus’ sisters when Jesus finally shows up…
“Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died.” – John 11:32 NLT
But may I encourage you in those fleeting moments of doubt and despair to remember today’s refrain…
Just ask the question and the answer shall come
Just exercise your faith and know He’s the One
If there is no sign
Keep this in mind
He’ll show up on time
You see God neither needs, nor wears a watch, because He created time.
God is the true UTC, or world clock. All time is based on Him!
We mistakenly base His timing on how we feel, rather than recognizing time is simply WHEN He chooses to reveal.
Romans 8:18-19 (NLT) explains…
Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are.
Also, God isn’t focused on giving us His reasons, rather He’s committed to keeping His promise of ‘due season’ blessings.
Galatians 6:9 (NLT) encourages…
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
Hey, that also aligns with the song. It encourages us not to give up despite what we’re going through, because God will bless us at just the right time.
This tells me that just right time is when we need Him most. I don’t know about you, but that makes me sing the hymn…
I need Thee every hour
Most gracious Lord
No tender voice like Thine
Can peace afford
I need Thee, O I need Thee
Every hour I need Thee
O bless me now, my Savior
I come to Thee
I need Thee every hour
Stay Thou nearby
Temptations lose their power
When Thou art nigh
I need Thee, O I need Thee
Every hour I need Thee
O bless me now, my Savior
I come to Thee
I need Thee every hour
In joy or pain
Come quickly and abide
Or life is vain
I need Thee, O I need Thee
Every hour I need Thee
O bless me now, my Savior
I come to Thee
These old lyrics just gave me a new thought. God is, ALL OF THE TIME!
John 1:1-4 (NLT) affirms…
In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.
This means it should always feel like God shows up on time, because He’s omnipresent (everywhere all of the time)! 🤯
Therefore, if you feel like God is late, I encourage you to check your watch, pray, and synchronize your time with Him. As James 4:15 (ERV) admonishes…
So you should say, “If the Lord wants, we will live and do this or that.”
The Holy Spirit is compelling me to point out, if we trust God from the beginning, we won’t need Him to show up just in time.
He directed me to Proverbs 3:5-8 (ERV), which says…
Trust the Lord completely, and don’t depend on your own knowledge. With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way. Don’t trust in your own wisdom, but fear and respect the Lord and stay away from evil. If you do this, it will be like a refreshing drink and medicine for your body.
Wow! This inspires me to start every day, and spend every moment, trusting God. It makes sense, because by trusting God, I will be doing things in His time, not mine.
Lastly, the Holy Spirit is emphasizing, like today’s verse says, Jesus has already showed up! The only thing taking time is you letting Him show up in you.
Today’s song is…
Show Up!
Blessings 4HG (1 Corinthians 10:31)
