The Great Physician’s Telehealth Healing (2024-06-13)

Welcome to another day the Lord has made that we should rejoice and be glad in. (Psalms 118:24)

Today let’s look at how the Great Physician healed remotely.

Today’s scripture, Matthew 8:5‭-‬10‭, ‬13 (NLT) shares…
When Jesus returned to Capernaum, a Roman officer came and pleaded with him, “Lord, my young servant lies in bed, paralyzed and in terrible pain.” Jesus said, “I will come and heal him.” But the officer said, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my home. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed. I know this because I am under the authority of my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say, ‘Go,’ and they go, or ‘Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves, ‘Do this,’ they do it.” When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to those who were following him, he said, “I tell you the truth, I haven’t seen faith like this in all Israel!… Then Jesus said to the Roman officer, “Go back home. Because you believed, it has happened.” And the young servant was healed that same hour.

Consider…
According to the Health Resources & Services Administration, Telehealth — sometimes called telemedicine — lets you see your health care provider without going to their office. You can have a telehealth visit online using your computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Having a telehealth visit is just like a regular visit, but you are in one place and your health care provider is in another.

In today’s scripture, we’re allowed to eavesdrop on a faith-chat between a master with the Master. The chat pertained to the failing health of the master’s servant in a different location. From this chat we learn additional phenomenal facts about Jesus, that makes Him the Great Physician!

First, Jesus was willing to instantly go with the Roman Officer to heal his servant. Here’s what Jesus said, “I will come and heal him.”

I believe Jesus is waiting for us to ask Him for help like this master, so that He can compassionately respond to us the same way. Jesus is always willing to come and help. However, the delay in our healing is usually due to our unwillingness to ask.

Just like ‘Teledoc’, Jesus is always a call away. He’s in an open chat, ready, willing and able to meet your needs.

Speaking of meeting needs, in 1997 Ask Jeeves, “Jeeves” being the name of a “gentleman’s personal gentleman”, or valet, fetching answers to any question asked, website was launched.

The original idea behind Ask Jeeves was to allow users to get answers to questions in everyday, natural language, and traditional keyword searching.

In February 2006, Jeeves was removed from Ask Jeeves and the search engine rebranded to Ask.

Well, as amazing and helpful as Ask Jeeves was and is, it pales in comparison to Ask Jesus! You see Jeeves can only fetch the answers, whereas Jesus is the answer.

The Holy Spirit is flashing a neon sign that says, ‘The Answer is waiting for you to Ask, Seek and Find Him’. (Matthew 7:7-8)

Also like ‘Teledoc’, Jesus is waiting for us to initiate our visit with Him. He responds to our faith. But our faith is only recognized when we reach out to Him.

Next, we see the lesser master recognized the Greatest Master, with whom he was chatting. We would do well to always remember who we’re asking for help, when we’re asking Jesus. Psalm 95:6 (KJV) exhorts us…
O come, let us worship and bow down: Let us kneel before the LORD our maker.

Lest we ever forget, the Lord, whose help we seek, made us. Psalms 100:3 (NLT)…
Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

So the wisdom gleaned from this Roman, is this: ‘Recognize and Reverence Jesus’!

The same way we respect and trust the ‘Teledoc’ to address our needs and concerns, we need to always respect and trust Jesus!

The next lesson we’re taught in today’s scripture is about the power of proxy or intercessory faith. Nowhere do we read about the dying servant praying, although he may have been. Rather, we read about someone who cared for him, Asking, Seeking and Finding Jesus, the Answer, on his behalf.

The Apostle Paul exhorts us in 1 Timothy 2:1 (ERV)…
First of all, I ask that you pray for all people. Ask God to bless them and give them what they need. And give thanks.

The message seems pretty simple, care and pray for others.

But notice I said we learned about the power of proxy prayer. My favorite part of today’s text is Jesus’ response to this man who cared enough to reverently ask Him to heal his servant from their remote location. The scripture says…
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to those who were following him, he said, “I tell you the truth, I haven’t seen faith like this in all Israel!

When is the last time that you amazed Jesus with your faith? Have you ever amazed Him? We sing about amazing grace, but do we have amazing faith.

The passage goes on to confirm that Jesus did heal the servant virtually. But there’s something about amazing faith that we still need to grasp.

Jesus said…
“If you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘May you be uprooted and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you! – Luke 17:6 NLT

And…
“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” – Matthew 17:20 NLT

That’s awesome 😮. Mustard seed faith can do the impossible, like…

  • Asking Jesus to heal a dying servant virtually.
  • Seeking crumbs from the Master’s table to heal a demon possessed daughter (Matthew 15:22-28)
  • Knocking a hole through the roof to lower a helpless friend to Jesus (Mark 2:2-12)
  • Finding healing in touching the hem of Jesus’ garment (Mark 5:25-34)

As amazing as these healing acts of faith are, Jesus promised…
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it! – John 14:12‭-‬14 NLT

The Holy Spirit is emphasizing, “if you believe the Answer, ASK Him”

Think about it, you don’t call a ‘Teledoc’ and not tell him/her what you need? You share all of your information because you believe he/she can provide answers that will help you heal. Even more we should believe that Jesus, the Great Physician is the Answer to everything about us. After all He made us.

Today, the Great Physician, who’s the Answer, is telling us to ASK ANYTHING in His name!

Today’s song is…
Ask Anything In My Name

Blessings 4HG (1 Corinthians 10:31)
