Welcome to another day the Lord has made that we should rejoice and be glad in. (Psalms 118:24)

This week we will seek wisdom from the Holy Spirit regarding endings. Today, we’ll start at the beginning.
Today’s scripture, Genesis 1:5 (NLT), says…
God called the light “day” and the darkness “night.” And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day.
Consider…
As God created everything, He has stopping points to mark completions of His work. It’s as if He was saying, this part is done, now I will proceed to the next part of my plan. Make no mistake, God has His full plan in mind, before He began. (Ephesians 1:9)
Still, an infinite God, created finite moments, to reveal His work. The omnipotent God was not limited by physical ability, so why did He choose to do things day by day? I believe part of the answer is given in Lamentations 3:23 (NLT), which declares…
Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.
You see, as each day of creation ended, it was preparation for the next day of what God wanted to accomplish.
Our unlimited God, created a limited world, to prepare bite sized morsels of His goodness.
This makes me think of when Moses asked God to see His glorious presence in Exodus 33:18-23 (NLT)…
Moses responded, “Then show me your glorious presence.” The Lord replied, “I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will call out my name, Yahweh, before you. For I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose. But you may not look directly at my face, for no one may see me and live.” The Lord continued, “Look, stand near me on this rock. As my glorious presence passes by, I will hide you in the crevice of the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will remove my hand and let you see me from behind. But my face will not be seen.”
God revealed that His overwhelming presence is too much for anyone to consume. But, wait a minute, Jesus said that we’ve seen the Father, when we’ve seen Him (John 14:8-9)? Yes! That’s the point, we can only see Jesus, who is God incarnate (Colossians 2:9). But notice what John 1:14b (NLT) says…
…And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
In Jesus, we actually were seeing God’s glory. This reminds me of the Eclipse we witnessed about a month ago. Recall, we couldn’t look directly into the sun. Yet, with special glasses we could see brilliant light that fills the earth, in a more powerful way. In the same way, God’s Son, allows us to see Him in a more powerful way, which is up close and personal.
So the first thing we learn about endings with God, is that He made them on purpose in the beginning. God wants us to fully experience Him in the moments He allows. It’s because each day we get to see His, love, mercy, grace, provision, faithfulness and overall goodness, up close and personal.
Just like God marked each milestone of creation with the end of a day, in order for us to see God’s new mercies, the previous day must end.
God’s endings are the precursor to His new beginnings. And we know the ultimate example of this is we must die in order to live.
So in your ‘end of’ moments, remember they’re really just precursors to God’s new mercies en route to you.
It just occurred to me that God places great emphasis on new. 🤔
God’s not going anywhere, so don’t be in a rush to experience all of Him all at once. Enjoy Him, one new mercy at a time.
Today’s song is….
