Jesus is God, Omnipresent, Always There (2024-02-17)

Welcome to another day the Lord has made that we should rejoice and be glad in. (Psalms 118:24)

Today, let’s close out the week locating our Omnipresent Lord.

In today’s scripture, Revelation 1:8 (NLT), Jesus said…
“I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.”

Consider…
This week our Lord has shown us that He is the G.O.A.T.

  • He’s God Over All Things & Greatest Of All Time (Phillipians 2:9-11)
  • His Presence is the Gift Of All Time (John 1:14)
  • He is the Giver Of All Things (James 1:17)
  • He is God, Omnipotent, Almighty, Triumphant (Psalm 24:8)
  • He is God, Omniscient, All Telling (John 15:15)

And today, we close out the week finding that Jesus is God, Omnipresent, Always There.

I must admit, I love Jesus’ swag displayed in humble brag to the religious leaders. For example, in defending His position as G.O.A.T., He said, “The fact is, before Abraham was born, I AM.” – John 8:58 ERV.

As I read Jesus’ mic drop 🎤, I realized something amazing that I missed before. Jesus was saying I AM the promise before it was given (Genesis 28:14)! That immediately ran my mind to John 1:1‭-‬5 (NLT)…
In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

Everything began with our timeless Jesus!

Yet, even though Jesus is timeless, He is also timely! Romans 5:6 (ERV) testifies…
Christ died for us when we were unable to help ourselves. We were living against God, but at just the right time Christ died for us.

His timeliness is re-emphasized in 1 Timothy 2:6 (NLT), which says…
He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.

This makes me think of Dottie Peoples lyrics…
He’s an on time God, yes He is
Oh on time God, yes he is

So we get His timeless timeliness, but what about the Omnipresence claim? The answer can be located in Psalms 139:7‭-‬12 (ERV), which declares…
Your Spirit is everywhere I go. I cannot escape your presence. If I go up to heaven, you will be there. If I go down to the place of death, you will be there. If I go east where the sun rises or go to live in the west beyond the sea, even there you will take my hand and lead me. Your strong right hand will protect me. Suppose I wanted to hide from you and said, “Surely the darkness will hide me. The day will change to night and cover me.” Even the darkness is not dark to you. The night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are the same.

In the past when I read this passage, I stopped at darkness can’t hide me from God as proof of His ever present presence being with me. However, this morning the Holy Spirit pointed out Psalm 139:13 (NLT) shows God being with us from our begining. 🤯 It says…
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.

Our hands-on Lord and Savior wants us to see He is with us from our beginning through eternity with Him. We just read our beginning, now let’s peek at His eternity promise. 1 Thessalonians 4:16‭-‬17 (NLT) says…
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.

I love, “For the Lord himself”. That’s a good word to hide in our hearts, that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Himself will see about us at His appointed time. That promise applies to both here and now and for eternity! 🙏🏾

The Holy Spirit is guiding me to also point out God has to be everywhere because according to Romans 11:36, He makes and sustains everything!

I’ll close with this little rhyme
To keep Jesus’ presence top of mind
In the morning when you rise
You can see the world with Jesus’ eyes
And as you go through your day
You have a choice to follow His way
He gave you the Holy Spirit to lead and guide
But, It’s your choice of whether His guidance is accepted or denied.
So choose wisely and follow His direction
Because you’ll never die hanging with the Resurrection
Finally, I pray that you live your life acutely aware
That Jesus is God, Omnipresent, Always There!
