Our Champion Jesus is God, Omnipotent, Almighty, Triumphant (2024-02-15)

Welcome to another day the Lord has made that we should rejoice and be glad in. (Psalms 118:24)

Today let’s center ourselves on our true Champion. šŸ†

Today’s scripture is Psalms 24:8 (NLT), which declares…
Who is the King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty; the Lord, invincible in battle.

Consider…
Here are some awesome quotes from the self proclaimed greatest boxer of all time…

  • ā€œFloat like a butterfly, sting like a bee. The hands can’t hit what the eyes can’t see.ā€
  • ā€œI am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was.ā€
  • ā€œI’m so mean, I make medicine sick.ā€
  • ā€œI’m young; I’m handsome; I’m fast. I can’t possibly be beat.ā€
  • ā€œI should be a postage stamp. That’s the only way I’ll ever get licked.ā€
  • ā€œIt’s not bragging if you can back it up.ā€

Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr, better known as Mohammed Ali, is considered the G.O.A.T. of boxing. He finished his boxing career with 56 wins and 5 losses with 37 knockouts. During his illustrious career he was…

  • WBA heavyweight champion (4Ɨ)
  • WBC heavyweight champion (2Ɨ)
  • The Ring heavyweight champion (3Ɨ)
  • NABF heavyweight champion (3Ɨ)
  • Olympic light heavyweight champion (1960)

Yeppers, “the people’s champion”, was arguably the greatest boxer of all time. Yet, he died at the age of 74, in 2016. While he may have been king of the ring, he was no match for death’s sting.

Now let me tell you about a man named Jesus, who said, ā€œDestroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.ā€ – John 2:19 NLT

And of course we know that He did, as confirmed in Matthew 28:5‭-‬6 (NLT)…
Then the angel spoke to the women. ā€œDon’t be afraid!ā€ he said. ā€œI know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying.

By the way, remember me pointing out, “the people’s champion”, Mohammed Ali lost to death? Well, according to 2 Timothy 1:9‭-‬10 (ERV), not only did Jesus defeat death, He DESTROYED it…
God saved us and chose us to be his holy people, but not because of anything we ourselves did. God saved us and made us his people because that was what he wanted and because of his grace. That grace was given to us through Christ Jesus before time began. And now it has been shown to us in the coming of our Savior Christ Jesus. He DESTROYED death and showed us the way to have life. Yes, through the Good News Jesus showed us the way to have life that cannot be destroyed.

As a matter of fact, Jesus tells us that death wasn’t even a true contender, in John 10:17‭-‬18 (AMP)…
ā€œFor this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My [own] life so that I may take it back. No one takes it away from Me, but I lay it down voluntarily. I am authorized and have power to lay it down and to give it up, and I am authorized and have power to take it back. This command I have received from My Father.ā€

Yes indeed, Jesus is the true people’s champion. 1 Corinthians 15:51‭-‬57 (NLT) shares a benefit of being part of His entourage…
But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies. Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: ā€œDeath is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?ā€ For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus is our champion because of more than just DESTROYING death, He also overcame the challenges of this world. In John 16:33 (AMP) He said…
ā€œI have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.ā€ [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]

And 1 John 5:4‭-‬5 (AMP) re-emphasizes…
For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God]. Who is the one who is victorious and overcomes the world? It is the one who believes and recognizes the fact that Jesus is the Son of God.

Hopefully Christ’s two significant victories of DESTROYING death and overcoming life’s struggles, prove that He is God, Omnipotent, Almighty and Triumphant.

Lastly, the Holy Spirit is admonishing me to stop fighting the battle(s) Christ has already won. Romans 6:7 (NLT) declares…
For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.

So today, stay focused on, and connected to the true Champion, who has already won! šŸ†

Today’s song is…
